Bishop WIP 2

More work on the Bishop I'm assembling alongside the Valentine. posted from Bloggeroid posted from Bloggeroid

Bishop

So after the sprue mixup with the Valentine kit, I ended up making the Bishop too. I started with the main gun and the turret. Again, the turret was a bitch to align and the gun had fiddly bits which will never be seen with the fighting compartment sealed off. So, I left off making the fiddly bits. I'll start on the hull and chassis in a while. More soon! posted from Bloggeroid

Valentine WIP 4

Almost there. I'm still contemplating if I should model the hatch closed or open. Nevertheless, I'm calling it a day before I start work on the link and length tracks. posted from Bloggeroid

More on the Valentine.

Naloko na! I was already starting the turret construction when I realized the parts were for a Bishop instead of the Valentine! I must've accidentally confused the parts sprues years ago! So off to the bodega and after a few minutes search thru the old Valentine and Bishop kits, I finally found the matching sprue and returned the Bishop sprue to its correct box. Good thing the Valentine and the Bishop shared the same chassis. Now for the Valentine's turret. It's an ugly piece of work. Too much flash. Misaligned attachment stubs. And an ugly main gun. But I will soldier on. More soon! posted from Bloggeroid

Valentine Mk lll WIP 1

My first tank build for 2015 is ESCI's Valentine Mk lll with the link and length tracks.

2015's First Build and Beer

I joined a local group of scale modelers in this year's first Build and Beer! That's an afternoon of scale models, spicy pork cracklings, ice-cold beer and good company. I went to the session carrying an old toolbox I had repurposed as my Take-Away Hobby box and an ESCI Valentine. At the location, the guys were seated around a long table loaded with models in various stages of assembly and painting as well as a host of various materials. Of special note were the chicharon, of which there were a lot! And the beer! The company was so fun that I managed to cut only one part from the sprue. I got guilty when I reached home that I added some road wheels to the build. Hehehehe. Sonny raffled off two Spitfire books and I snagged one. Lucky me! Now I'm itching to make a Spitfire. Thanks to Berms Bermudez for hosting the session!
