I'm almost done with my 1:72 Armourfast Panzer III's but they look naked as DAK armor without any stowage. I've been planning to scratchbuild some stuff as well as cannibalize some other old, unfinished/destroyed kits for roadwheels and track. Happily though, I stumbled on two boxes of the very first 1:72 Ground Vehicle set by Academy.
The kit contains a Willys jeep, a Kettenkraftrad and a Kubelwagen. Aside from the vehicles, they also have a few accessories, namely oil drums, crates and US and German jerry cans! Just what I need as stowage for the tanks.
The jerry can or the Wehrmacht-Einheitskanister ( its proper name since it was invented and designed by the Germans) is a robust fuel container made from pressed steel. It was designed and made in Germany in the 1930s for military use to hold 20 liters of fuel. Thousands were made and stockpiled in anticipation of war.
Now to see how I can go about getting more stowage...
Drop by this link for a review of the kit.
