Sd.Kfz. 251 Halftrack Variants

The Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251 or Sd.Kfz. 251 halftrack -- also referred to as "Hanomags" by both German and Allied soldiers – was an armored fighting vehicle designed and first built by the Hanomag company during World War II. The Sd.Kfz. 251 was designed to transport the panzergrenadiers of the German mechanized infantry corps into battle. Sd.Kfz. 251s were the most widely produced German half-tracks of the war, with at least 15,252 vehicles and variants produced by various manufacturers. These are 1:144 Trumpeter Sd.Kfz. 251S, namely the Sd.Kfz. 251/1 "Stuka zu Fuß" rocket launcher, Sd.Kfz. 251/9 Schützenpanzerwagen equipped with a 75 mm L/24 low velocity gun, and the Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Schützenpanzerwagen standard personnel carrier.

It may have been named after Winston Churchill, who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Minister of Defence at the time, and had been involved with the development of the tank as a weapon during the First World War. Alternatively, and fitting in with other British tank names, it may have been named after John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, an ancestor of Winston Churchill and the leader of th...

Restoration Side Projects

A variety of side projects I've started which would need scratchbuilding, sculpting and casting. There are 3 kubelwagens, 2 bikes with sidecars, a jeep and trailer, a hanomag and a panhard armored car. Got a few humbers and a daimler too but not seen in the picture. I'll post progress pictures of my sculpting and casting process. posted from Bloggeroid
